Last week we had a gaming session which involved playing a number of different consoles such as the wii, xbox, nintendo DS, playstation and xbox kinect. As I was feeling un well and had to go home, I played on my Wii sports and Wii fit games later on at home.
I feel that this type of game is very good for developing physical and gross motor skills. I think it is beneficial for children to be able to play a range of games. For example, games which help you to improve problem solving skills and improve thinking skills such the Nintendo DS can be very beneficial to children. But also I feel that it is also good for children to play games like the wii fit and wii sports which involve them getting up and moving around in order to playt he game. This gives them a good balance of everything and will make sure they can improve their skills all around.
Over all I think that gaming in Education is a positive thing and can only benefit children in the long run :)

making a game
In our lecture today we made a game! I did find it quite difficult to understand but for the second part of the lesson we worked in pairs to improve our game.
Me and Natasha worked on her game and added in extra objects and points. Then we added in a bomb which ended the game if you clicked on it instead of the fruit.
We also added in sounds and different speeds in order to make the game more interesting. We then made a set of instructions so if anyone wanted to play the game they would have something to follow. We were pleased with the outcome of our game:)

3rd February 2011
Yesterday (2nd Feb) we went on a trip to Big Pit.
I was too scared to go down the mine so I spent some time going to see the exhibition with some people from the other classes. When my class came back from the mine we went back to the exhibition and made some notes and took some photos to include in our report. There were a lot of interesting exhibitions with things on display such as the miners uniforms and lamps.
Also we went to a 'fake' mine which was like a reinactment of the real one. It was in a big tunnel and included the equipment, sound effects and a tour guide on the tv screen telling you all of the information. When you had to move on to the next part of the 'mine', the lights went out behind you and came on in front of you so you knew where to go next. But when they were telling us about how they set off explosions in the mine to make the tunnels longer, there was a big BOOM! sound effect which sent myself, Carrie and Josie screaming and running for the door! But we braved it and went back in afterwards and finished the exhibition!
Despite the weather, over all it was an enjoyable day and we gained some good information to put towards our report.
